Dining in LondonThe fog shrouded city of London, a nerve center of Northern Europe since the time of the Romans, is one of the most popular tourist destinations on earth. And when weary travelers have had seen the sights for the day, they can assuage their hunger at one of the thousands of excellent dining establishments to be found in the city. The Clerkenwell Dining Room, located at 69-73 St. John Street, serves top notch modern European cuisine crafted under the direction of head chef Andrew Thompson‎, while maintaining a pleasant and informal atmosphere. Reservations are highly suggested. Sarastro, found at 126 Drury Lane in Westminster, serves up some of the best Mediterranean‎ fare in all London. And their gaily theatrical interior, laden with brilliant frescoes, makes this an unmissable stop on any trip to London. Reservations are highly suggested. The Inamo Restaurant, located at 134-136 Wardour St., serves delightfully fresh Asian fusion cuisine. As much of the restaurant's novel appeal actually stems from the tech of its interactive tables however, which the patrons use to order their food. For English country food prepared to perfection, look no further than the St. John Restaurant Company Limited, found at 26 St. John Street. Located in a former smokehouse, the quaint interior only adds to the appeal of the solid hearty fare served up. The rabbit especially comes high recommended. Reservations are highly suggested. For some excellent Dim Sum at a great value, head down to the Ping Pong, found at the South Bank Festival Terrace in Southbank Centre on Belvedere Road. This eatery is especially a boon to those who suffer from gluten intolerance, due to their large and varied menu of gluten-free items. Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine is all the rage right now in Britain, and one of the finest places to go for a taste of the Rio Grande country is the Wahaca, found at 66 Chandos Place. The fresh, Mexican-market style fare is expertly crafted under the direction of chef Thomasina Miers, and comes exclusively from free range livestock. |
