London ShoppingNamed the Shopping Capital of the World in 2009 by Forbes magazine, London, UK is home to over half of the worlds major retailers. With a staggering array of shopping districts, markets, and famous department stores, visitors to London will find anything their heart desires plus some things they never even thought of! London is home to a huge variety of shopping districts. While some of these areas cater more exclusively to specific items, others are home to a more eclectic mix of boutiques, department stores, and designer shops. Some of the world’s most innovative designers can be found in Carnaby, the area made famous during the cultural revolution of the sixties. Visitors to London should not miss the city’s many exciting markets. First established in the 1800s, the Portobello Road Market is the city’s best known market. Those looking for flowers and supplies should not miss the Columbian Road Flower Market on Sunday mornings. Greenwich Market features over 150 vendors selling handmade jewelry, art, and clothing. Traders have been selling produce, meats, cheese, and bakery goods at Berwick Street Market since 1840.
